Jill Marshall came to Alaska in 1975 for a 3-month stay that never ended.

Her artwork blends her love of Alaska with her love of the wildness of the people and place. You can see these themes woven through her Alaska Wild Women, the Nature of Denali, and the Christmas in Alaska artwork.

The Alaska Wild Women idea came to her in one week. “I think it celebrates the independent spirit in all of us. The Alaska Wild Women style of illustration is great fun and really lets me run amuck with colors!”

About ago she took her first watercolor workshop. "I remember getting paint on my fingers and being thrilled." She’s been painting ever since. Jill started her own graphic design firm, Marshall Arts Design, ago and laments, "Not much is done by hand anymore, it’s all electronic. I really miss the hands-on part. I’m sure that’s why I was drawn to creating artwork."

Her award-winning paintings feature natural elements, mostly birds and flowers. "I love painting the nature of Alaska, it’s a great excuse to get outside!"

Jill lives in Fairbanks with her husband Charlie McMahon and their two 4-legged kids, Sammy (the cat) and Joey (the dog). Their son Josh lives in Anchorage.
